Isothiazoline-based biocides (also known as isothiazolinones) from Innova Corporate are supplied as 1.5% active (CMIT/MIT 3:1 blend) or 14% active concentrate, and are widely used in Ahmedabad's industrial water treatment, paints, adhesives, metalworking fluids, and latex emulsions. The active ingredients – 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (CMIT) and 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (MIT) – are highly effective against bacteria, fungi, and algae at very low concentrations (1-15 ppm). For Ahmedabad's cooling towers (textile, pharma, chemical, dairy), isothiazoline provides long-term microbial control (residual activity 1-2 weeks) without foaming or volatility. This makes it an excellent choice for low-maintenance treatment programs where daily monitoring is not feasible. For water-based paint manufacturing (Ahmedabad has several small and medium paint and coating units serving the construction and automotive sectors), isothiazoline is added at 0.05-0.2% to prevent in-can spoilage (bacterial growth that causes gas formation, viscosity loss, and odor). For textile and leather processing, isothiazoline is used to preserve finishing baths, sizing pastes, and metalworking fluids. The biocide works by inhibiting key enzymes involved in cellular respiration – specifically it reacts with thiol (-SH) groups in enzymes, disrupting the Krebs cycle. It is stable over a wide pH range (3-9) and at temperatures up to 50°C. However, it should NOT be used in systems containing reducing agents like sodium sulfite or sodium metabisulfite (common oxygen scavengers in boiler water) because these deactivate the biocide. For Ahmedabad's common effluent treatment plants (CETPs), isothiazoline is sometimes added to the final effluent tank to prevent biofouling in discharge pipes, but its slow degradation (half-life 7-14 days) requires careful dosage to meet discharge norms. Our isothiazoline products are REACH compliant and EPA registered. For export-oriented products (e.g., paints or adhesives manufactured in Ahmedabad for export to Europe), we provide free of MIT/CMIT declaration if needed (some EU regulations restrict CMIT). Available in 25L, 200L drums, and 1000L IBCs. For small-scale formulators, we offer 1.5% ready-to-use solution in 5L pails. Technical support includes challenge testing (OECD 106) to determine the minimum effective concentration for your specific matrix.
Dosage in cooling water treatment programs 50 to 120 ppm for effective control of biocide activity, for cooling waters.
INNOVA BCD 407 can be fed as received or diluted with water minimum 10% concentration with any chemical feed solution. The chemical should be added to cooling tower basin (or any other point, which provides uniform mixing) addition should be made to metering pump to minimize handling.
Badly fouled systems must be cleaned before treatment to start. INITIAL DOSE - When the system is noticeably fouled, slug feed 50 to 75 ppm of INNOVA BCD 407 in the system. SUBSEQUENT DOSE - When the Microbial count is evident, slug feed 25 to 50 ppm of INNOVA BCD 407.
he best indication of the successful application of INNOVA BCD 407 is visual inspection of tower surfaces or monitoring changes in heat transfer on metal surface of process equipment. Uses of on-site bacterial counts or microscopic examination provide relative indicators of system cleanliness and biological control. If bacteria counts are used, Note that counts may be high immediately after biocide addition. Counts will be lower as control is achieved
INNOVA BCD 407 is available in 25Kgs, 50Kgs & 200 Kgs.
