DDAC (Didecyl Dimethyl Ammonium Chloride) is a high-performance quaternary ammonium compound (quat) offered by Innova Corporate as an 80% active concentrate, specifically for Ahmedabad's industrial sanitization and algaecide applications. DDAC is a dialkyl quat with two decyl (C10) chains, giving it stronger biocidal activity than conventional benzalkonium chloride (BKC), particularly against fungi, biofilms, and algae. For Ahmedabad's cooling towers – which face severe algal growth during monsoon humidity (July-September) and biofilm issues year-round – DDAC provides long-lasting control at 2-5 ppm continuous or 10-20 ppm shock dose. It also acts as a slime dispersant by breaking down EPS matrix, making it synergistic with other biocides. For Ahmedabad's leather finishing units (small cluster), DDAC is used as a fungicide for wet-blue leather storage (0.1-0.3% of hide weight) to prevent mold damage during rainy season. In swimming pools of Ahmedabad's hotels and residential complexes, DDAC is an EPA-approved algaecide (though we recommend chlorine for primary disinfection, DDAC as a supplement). DDAC is very stable in storage (2+ years) and has low volatility. It is compatible with non-ionic surfactants but incompatible with anionic polymers (like polyacrylates, lignosulfonates) – they will form precipitates. The product is biodegradable (60% in 28 days) but toxic to fish – do not discharge undiluted to water bodies; send to CETP where dilution and biological degradation occur. For Ahmedabad's textile industry, DDAC is used as a bacteriostat in fabric finishing (e.g., antimicrobial textiles for medical or sportswear) – applied via pad-dry-cure at 0.5-2% on fabric weight. For metalworking fluids (engineering units in Sanand/Changodar), DDAC is used as a preservative at 0.05-0.2% (use in combination with triazine for broad spectrum). Supplied as a 80% active liquid (viscous, pale yellow), it must be diluted before use (forms a clear solution in water at 5-10% dilution). For cooling tower dosing, we recommend a diluted stock solution (10-20%) fed via metering pump. Available in 200L drums and 25L carboys. We also provide blends of DDAC with glutaraldehyde (e.g., 10% DDAC + 20% glutaraldehyde) for enhanced biofilm control in Ahmedabad's industrial cooling loops – the blend is synergistic because glutaraldehyde kills rapidly while DDAC provides residual film and penetrates biofilm. Technical support includes quat test strips (for DDAC/BKC) and on-site compatibility testing.
