Biocides For Severe Fouling (INNOVA BCD 417) in Assam

Innova Corporate (India) offers a high-strength, synergistic biocide blend containing glutaraldehyde (25-50%), DBNPA (10-20%), and quaternary ammonium compounds (5-10%) plus proprietary penetrants for Assam's most challenging industrial applications – especially oil refineries, paper mills, and large tea garden water storage systems with severe biological fouling. Assam's industries face high organic loads (COD 2000-8000 mg/L from tea processing waste, paper mill effluents, refinery hydrocarbons), warm temperatures (25-35°C), and high humidity, leading to thick biofilms (5-10 mm) on equipment, pipelines, and heat exchangers. This biocide penetrates established biofilms, breaks down EPS, and kills sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB), iron-oxidizing bacteria, and slime-forming pseudomonads that produce corrosive H₂S and cause biofouling of membranes and heat exchangers. For Assam's oil refineries (Digboi, Numaligarh), severe fouling in cooling water systems can reduce heat exchange efficiency by 30-50%. Our product provides rapid initial kill (99.9% reduction within 2 hours) followed by residual activity for up to 72 hours. It is effective at high temperatures (up to 55°C/131°F) and over pH 5-9. For severe cases (e.g., tea garden water tanks with thick slime), we recommend a shock dose of 200-400 ppm once weekly for 4-8 weeks, then maintenance dose of 50-100 ppm. Compatible with non-ionic and cationic dispersants (use with our bio-dispersant for synergistic biofilm removal). For Assam's common effluent treatment plants (CETPs) for paper and refinery clusters experiencing sludge bulking due to filamentous bacteria, this biocide can be used cautiously. Available in 25L and 200L drums. Warning: Corrosive to skin and eyes; full PPE required. Do not mix with strong oxidizers. We offer on-site training for safe handling for Assam's industrial safety officers.

Advantages in Assam:

  • INNOVA BCD 417 can be considered as an oxidizer, since bromine content it oxidize bacterial substrate found in regional water sources.
  • It functions in conjunction with chlorine to provide enhanced protection for local facilities. INNOVA BCD 417 is suitable for once through cooling systems in Assam, because of its fast acting biocidal action (contact time often less than 1 hour).

Dosage :

Dosage in cooling water treatment programs 20 to 30 ppm for effective control of biocide activity, for cooling waters.

Method of Feeding :

INNOVA BCD 417 can be fed as received or diluted with water minimum 10% concentration with any chemical feed solution. The chemical should be added to cooling tower basin (or any other point, which provides uniform mixing) addition should be made to metering pump to minimize handling.

Feed Requirements :

Badly fouled systems must be cleaned before treatment to start. INITIAL DOSE - When the system is noticeably fouled, slug feed 25 to 50 ppm of INNOVA BCD 417 in the system. SUBSEQUENT DOSE - When the Microbial count is evident, slug feed 20 to 40 ppm of INNOVA BCD 417.

Control Testing :

The best indication of the successful application of INNOVA BCD 417 is visual inspection of tower surfaces or monitoring changes in heat transfer on metal surface of process equipment.

Uses of on-site bacterial counts or microscopic examination provide relative indicators of system cleanliness and biological control. If bacteria counts are used, Note that counts may be high immediately after biocide addition. Counts will be lower as control is achieved.

Packing :

    INNOVA BCD 417 is available in 25Kgs, 50Kgs & 200 Kgs.
