Innova Corporate (India) supplies MBT-based biocide (methylene bis-thiocyanate) for Assam's anaerobic environments and closed systems – including closed-loop cooling systems, firewater storage tanks, and refinery effluent channels. MBT is particularly effective against sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) and slime-forming organisms. For Assam's oil refineries (Digboi, Numaligarh), where SRB activity in cooling loops and effluent channels produces hydrogen sulfide (rotten egg odor) and black sludge, MBT provides long-term control. For onshore oilfields in Upper Assam (Nazira, Lakwa, Moran), MBT is used for produced water and injection water treatment. It has the advantage of sustained activity (half-life 5-10 days) and thermal stability up to 60°C (140°F). Unlike glutaraldehyde, MBT has minimal odor and low volatility, making it suitable for indoor applications. For tea gardens with closed-loop water circulation (for cooling in CTC machines), MBT prevents biofilms and odors. It shows synergy with isothiazolines and DBNPA and can be used in rotation programs. However, MBT is not compatible with oxidizing biocides (chlorine, bromine) and may be deactivated by reducing agents. For severe SRB problems manifesting as blackened water and H₂S odor in cooling loops or firewater tanks, we recommend a shock dose of 100-200 ppm MBT for 24-48 hours. MBT is available as a 20-30% active liquid and as a solid (98-99% active) for slow-release applications. Storage: MBT may crystallize below 10°C (50°F) – Assam's winter (Dec-Jan) in Upper Assam can see 5-10°C, so store indoors. Available in 25L and 200L drums (liquid) and 20kg bags (solid). We provide on-site SRB testing using API RP 38 culture bottles.
Dosage in cooling water treatment programs 25 to 45 ppm for effective control of biocide activity, for cooling waters.
INNOVA BCD 501can be fed as received or diluted with water minimum 10% concentration with any chemical feed solution. The chemical should be added to cooling tower basin (or any other point, which provides uniform mixing) addition should be made to metering pump to minimize handling.
Badly fouled systems must be cleaned before treatment to start. INITIAL DOSE - When the system is noticeably fouled, slug feed 25 to 50 ppm of INNOVA BCD 501 in the system. SUBSEQUENT DOSE - When the Microbial count is evident, slug feed 20 to 40 ppm of INNOVA BCD 501.
The best indication of the successful application of INNOVA BCD 501 is visual inspection of tower surfaces or monitoring changes in heat transfer on metal surface of process equipment.
Uses of on-site bacterial counts or microscopic examination provide relative indicators of system cleanliness and biological control. If bacteria counts are used, Note that counts may be high immediately after biocide addition. Counts will be lower as control is achieved.
INNOVA BCD 501 is available in 25Kgs, 50Kgs & 200 Kgs.
