Biocides MBT Based (INNOVA BCD 501) in Saudi-arabia

Innova Corporate (India) offers a specialized MBT based Biocide (Methylene Bis-Thiocyanate), a powerful non-oxidizing biocide specifically formulated for industrial water treatment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. MBT is particularly effective in alkaline pH conditions (7.5-9.5) where many other biocides (like glutaraldehyde, DBNPA) lose efficacy, making it ideal for cooling water systems operating at high pH across Jubail, Yanbu, Riyadh, Dammam, and Jeddah. Our MBT based biocide provides excellent control of bacteria, fungi, and algae, with particular effectiveness against sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) and acid-producing bacteria - common in oil & gas refinery cooling systems, petrochemical plant closed loops, oil field water injection systems, and older industrial facilities with biofilms. The mechanism of action involves reaction with thiol groups in microbial enzymes, disrupting cellular metabolism and leading to cell death. MBT is unique among biocides because it offers good stability at high temperatures (up to 80°C) and remains effective in the presence of organic matter and suspended solids - important for facilities with process leaks, high COD effluents, and poor water quality common in Saudi Arabia's oil & gas, petrochemical, and refining industries. Key industries benefiting from our MBT biocide in Saudi Arabia include cooling towers in refineries (Jubail, Yanbu, Rabigh), oil & gas production facilities (Saudi Aramco), petrochemical plants (SABIC, Sadara), desalination plants (pre-treatment for biofouling control), steel and aluminum plants, and power generation. The product is particularly valuable in recirculating cooling systems where it provides excellent biofilm control and prevents Legionella growth. Our MBT biocide is typically applied as a shock dose of 50-150 ppm every 3-7 days or as continuous treatment at 5-20 ppm. It is compatible with chlorine and bromine, allowing for alternating biocide programs to prevent resistance development - critical in high-biocide-use industries like oil & gas and petrochemicals. The product works synergistically with other non-oxidizing biocides like glutaraldehyde, isothiazolinones, and quaternary ammonium compounds. Important considerations: MBT is pH sensitive (most effective at pH 6.5-8.5, activity decreases above pH 9.0) - monitor and adjust pH for optimal performance. The product may cause foaming at high concentrations - use with antifoam if needed. The product has a characteristic sulfur-like odor which dissipates quickly. Environmental note: MBT breaks down in the environment but should not be discharged in high concentrations - comply with Royal Commission and MEWA limits. By using our MBT based biocide, Saudi industries achieve effective microbial control in alkaline cooling water systems (pH 7.5-9.5), good stability at high temperatures (up to 80°C), compatibility with chlorine for rotating biocide programs (reducing resistance risk), effective SRB control (reducing pitting corrosion by 60-80%), cost-effective treatment compared to specialty alternatives, and compliance with Royal Commission and MEWA discharge standards for marine protection.

Advantages in Saudi-arabia:

  • It is a highly effective microbiocide tailored for Saudi-arabia's specific water mineralogy and microbial profiles.

Dosage :

Dosage in cooling water treatment programs 25 to 45 ppm for effective control of biocide activity, for cooling waters.

Method of Feeding :

INNOVA BCD 501can be fed as received or diluted with water minimum 10% concentration with any chemical feed solution. The chemical should be added to cooling tower basin (or any other point, which provides uniform mixing) addition should be made to metering pump to minimize handling.

Feed Requirements :

Badly fouled systems must be cleaned before treatment to start. INITIAL DOSE - When the system is noticeably fouled, slug feed 25 to 50 ppm of INNOVA BCD 501 in the system. SUBSEQUENT DOSE - When the Microbial count is evident, slug feed 20 to 40 ppm of INNOVA BCD 501.

Control Testing :

The best indication of the successful application of INNOVA BCD 501 is visual inspection of tower surfaces or monitoring changes in heat transfer on metal surface of process equipment.

Uses of on-site bacterial counts or microscopic examination provide relative indicators of system cleanliness and biological control. If bacteria counts are used, Note that counts may be high immediately after biocide addition. Counts will be lower as control is achieved.

Packing :

    INNOVA BCD 501 is available in 25Kgs, 50Kgs & 200 Kgs.
