Thione biocides (also known as mercaptobenzothiazole or MBT derivatives) are particularly valued for their excellent metal protection properties combined with biocidal activity - a unique dual functionality that provides both corrosion inhibition and microbial control in a single product. Our Thione based biocide works by inhibiting key enzymatic processes in microbial cells, particularly those involving metal-dependent enzymes. This mechanism makes it effective against bacteria (including SRB, acid-producing bacteria, and iron bacteria), fungi, and algae. Key applications include cooling water systems (biofilm control + metal protection - reducing both fouling and corrosion), desalination plant pre-treatment (metal protection + biofouling control), refinery cooling circuits (SRB control + corrosion prevention), closed-loop systems (preservation + corrosion inhibition - ideal for long-term protection), metalworking fluids (biocide + corrosion inhibitor - extending fluid life by 50-100%), and industrial preservation of water-based products. Our Thione biocide offers excellent thermal stability (effective up to 120°C) and remains active across pH range 4-10. It provides long-lasting residual activity (14-30 days) due to its strong adsorption characteristics and slow release properties. Typical dosage ranges from 10-50 ppm for maintenance to 50-200 ppm for shock treatment (every 2-4 weeks). The product is compatible with non-ionic and anionic chemicals but may be deactivated by strong oxidizing agents (chlorine, bromine, hydrogen peroxide) - avoid simultaneous use. Important handling: The product has a characteristic odor and is a moderate skin irritant - use appropriate PPE. Dosage :

    Dosage in cooling water treatment programs 15 to 30 ppm for effective control of biocide activity, for cooling waters.

Method of Feeding :

    INNOVA BCD 505 can be fed as received or diluted with water minimum 10% concentration with any chemical feed solution. The chemical should be added to cooling tower basin (or any other point, which provides uniform mixing) addition should be made to metering pump to minimize handling.

Feed Requirements :

    Badly fouled systems must be cleaned before treatment to start. INITIAL DOSE - When the system is noticeably fouled, slug feed 30 to 50 ppm of INNOVA BCD 505 in the system. SUBSEQUENT DOSE - When the Microbial count is evident, slug feed 20 to 30 ppm of INNOVA BCD 505.

Control Testing :

    The best indication of the successful application of INNOVA BCD 505 is visual inspection of tower surfaces or monitoring changes in heat transfer on metal surface of process equipment.

    Uses of on-site bacterial counts or microscopic examination provide relative indicators of system cleanliness and biological control. If bacteria counts are used, Note that counts may be high immediately after biocide addition. Counts will be lower as control is achieved.
